A vegan’s dream

I have a dream. A vegan’s dream. I hope you do too.

I want to share my dream with you in the hopes that together we can work to build a better world.
A better world for you. A better world for me. And a better world for all animals, especially those in most need of our attention and care—farm animals.

Here’s my dream. I want to live in a world where:
*”Burger” means veggie burger, not meat burger
*”Fast” food includes aloo gobi and onion pakora
*”Happy” cows, pigs and chickens in mass media advertising really are happy
*Travelers to foreign countries don’t feel like they ever left the states
*Family pets include pigs, chickens and other barnyard domesticated animals
*Vegan teenagers portrayed in the movies and on tv are not goth nor rebellious, but normal
*Eating meat or dairy is a last resort to hunger or need and is universally viewed as repugnant
*Government discontinues subsidies of meat, dairy, and GMO agriculture
*Mass media bans fast food advertising for lying and misleading the public

Signs are encouraging that we are moving towards a more compassionate and aware society. Some of the signs I’ve seen recently include:
*Delta airlines offered its stranded passengers on a delayed flight a tray of veggie sandwiches in the same quantity as the Italian sub and the turkey sandwich
*Had a vegan meal the other night with fellow dressage riders in Springfield IL at Smokey Bones restaurant
*Local grocery store’s vegan, vegetarian and health food alternatives selections grew and now occupy virtually every section of the store, not just the “healthy” aisle, including fresh foods, deli, frozen foods, snack foods, dairy, candy and cereal and cracker
*Completely vegetarian recipes for kids to prepare for their mothers on Mother’s Day in the weekly newspaper serving our tri-city area (without referencing them as vegetarian)
Just these few signs give me hope that we will see a better future for us all.

What dreams do you have? What signs that your dreams are coming true have you seen?
Please share with us. We’d love to hear from you!
